The brief was to select a health issue and create a public service advertisement for the Ad Council. For my assignment, I designed a series of posters to bring awareness to the fact that sugar can be just as addictive as drugs. The approach was to make the advertisements look light, friendly, and 'sugary'. But after the first glance, the viewer will see there are disturbing images of hard drugs such as cocaine, opiates, and heroine being replaced by sugar. This design decision would make people remember the advertisement due to its shock value. As a result, they will think about their sugar intake and look into the harmful effects of eating too much sugar.
