About the project

Anagram's web application allows independent eye care providers to utilize out-of-network vision benefits. With Anagram, providers can see any patient, no matter their insurer, verify their plans in real-time, and file claims on the patient's behalf.

The solution

After researching other business applications with multiple tools at the user’s disposal, a modular approach was decided upon for the home page. Each of the major actions a user can take received its own module. Modules offered a familiar design pattern for users and allowed for a scalable solution for future product releases.

Anagram’s user base consists of optometrists and their office staff. They want to focus on providing care for their patients instead of being on the computer. The demographic leans older. Oftentimes, claim filing is assigned to the office staff. Staff also tends to be responsible for training new hires in a variety of office tools, including Anagram

Additionally, the majority of Anagram’s user base is not tech-savvy and often reaches out to customer support for help navigating the application. As the web application scaled, users became confused about where to start in the program. The goal was to create a homepage that allowed users to quickly understand what actions they can take within the application without help from customer support.
